Dorothy Lee Holland

Dorothy Lee DeHart Holland, 83, of Sylva, went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday evening February 18, 2014. A native of Swain County she was the daughter of the late Will and Hattie Burnett DeHart. She was a member of East Sylva Baptist Church where she had taught the 2 and 3 year olds Sunday School Class for over 17 years and had helped around the Church for more than 40 years. She loved sunflowers, gardening, making crafts, canning and giving gifts. She would always look forward to sending out any kind of card. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 3 young children, 4 sisters and 1 brother. She is survived by her husband of 61 years Virgil Taylor Holland 1 Daughter- Brenda Holland Martin and her husband Sean of Sylva 2 Grandchildren- Emily Anne Martin and Jake Alexander Martin Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday February 22, 2014 at East Sylva Baptist Church with the Revs, Reed Benson and Charles Dean officiating. The family will receive friends Friday February 21, 2014 from 6 until 8:00 PM at Appalachian Funeral Services. Burial will be in DeHart Jackson Line Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in in Mrs. Holland’s name to: The Front Door Building Fund, East Sylva Baptist Church, 61 Faith Ave., Sylva, NC 28779 .
