Dorothea Alfreda Siler

Dorothea Alfreda ‘Freda’ Siler, 69, of Cullowhee, N.C. passed away on Jan. 12, 2025 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

She was born on Feb. 15, 1955, to the late Charles Henry Allen and Mae Louise Allen.

Freda was a graduate of Cullowhee High School, class of ‘1973.’ She went on to further her education earning an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Knoxville Business College. She worked as an Administrative Assistant while employed at the University of Tennessee, Jackson County Health Department, and Western Carolina University where she later retired. After retirement Freda continued to stay active by working at WestBridge Vocational and as an Election Poll worker.

Freda is survived by her son, Cory (Shaunese) Siler; grandchildren, Braydin and Emorii ‘Grand’s Man’ Siler of Alcoa, TN; brother, Donald ‘Donnie’ Allen of Cullowhee, NC; one niece and two nephews, Anya (Troy) King of Charlotte, NC, William Allen of Charlotte, NC, and Ikeda (Brittnee) Allen of Oklahoma City, OK; a host of great nieces, great nephews, friends and family.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon on Sat. Jan. 25, 2025, at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church with funeral services following. Pastor John Mitchell will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church Cemetery.
