Dora Jones Nations

Dora Jones Nations, 85, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Morningstar Assisted Living.

Dora was born in Jackson County and to a family of eleven siblings to the late Jesse and Buena Nations Jones.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Nations; three daughters, Brenda Williams, Barbara Ashe, and Connie Nations; six siblings, Felix and Clyde Jones, Naomi Jones Brooks, Willa Mae Jones Bumgarner, Cleo Jones Coggins, Jolene Jones Davis, and Annie Sue Dillard.  She owned and operated Rainbow Mountain Candy Shop.  Dora was also an excellent seamstress, a great cook, and she loved flowers.

She is survived by two grandsons, Tyler Ashe and Josh Williams; two great-granddaughters, Carolina and Nova Ashe; a son-in-law, Terry Ashe; three sisters, Janet Jones Cabe, Mary Doris Beasley, Peggy Jones Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM, on Sunday February 4, 2024, in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva NC.  Revs. Austin Frady and David Hall, officiating.  Interment will follow at Nations Creek Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
