Donald Howard Dockins

Donald Howard Dockins, age 71, of Sylva died Monday, June 16, 2014 at home in Sylva. Mr. Dockins was born July 29, 1942 in South Carolina. He is the son of the late James Howard and the late Esta (Shook) Dockins. Donald worked with the Mead Paper company in Sylva and Jackson Paper and Con-Med Plastics as an electrician and the last employment was the N.C.DOT as an electrician taking care of the I-40 tunnel Lights. He was a member of the Locust Field Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Geraldine (Gregory) Dockins and one son James Howard and wife Maline Dockins of Hudson, NC. Three grandchildren Breanna Ragan, Kambryn Elizabeth and Landon Dockins. Two step Grandchildren Srayar and Marcus Westfall of Hickory. Four sisters Nancy and husband Claude Guyer of Franklin, Gail and and husband Carroll Bradley of Sylva Dianne Dockins of Jamestown, NC and Tammy and husband Erkin McCall of Cashiers. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday June 18, 2014 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Jason Buchanan, Eddie Stillwell and Avery Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Locust field cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to American Cancer Society P.O.
