Donald Jackson Bailey

Donald Jackson Bailey, 80, of Sylva went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, June 12, 2015. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late William and Lillie DeHart Bailey. He was a founding member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Carroll and Stanley Bailey. He is survived by his wife of 15 years Gay Nell Stephens Bailey; a son- Alan Bailey (Lucinda) of Los Angeles, CA; a daughter- Lynda Bailey of Albany, GA; stepchildren- Melissa Foxworth of Sylva and Bobby Moore of Florida; two sisters- Wilma Gibson (Bob) of Andrews and Dorothy Ogle (CW) of Whittier; two brothers- Jack Bailey of Snow Camp, NC and Charles Bailey (Vickie) of Bryson City. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday June 15 at Lighthouse Baptist Church with the Revs. Matt Ledbetter and Lloyd Fish officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Sunday evening at Appalachian Funeral Services.
