Donald W. Atten

. Don Atten of Webster, North Carolina died on December 9, 2013 at the age of 56. He was born in Bayport, New York on December 29, 1956. He received his undergraduate degree in education from State University of New York in Buffalo and a Master’s degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984. Don Atten was The Painter, Inc., on and off the clock. He painted houses and homes and he painted a landscape of laughter and compassion throughout Western North Carolina. He is remembered as a true steward of love and unselfish grace who knew what was important in life; his family, his friends, and love, laughter and song. It is written that he is playing bocce ball in heaven and shining his love eternally up on us. Don Atten is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kathy Campbell; his son, Gus Atten, his daughter and her husband, Corey and Jeff Atten Schultz, his sister, Tina Atten, his brother, Mark Atten and a faithful hound dog, Gracie. Services will be held Friday, January 3rd , 2014 at 4:00 pm at the First Methodist Church in Sylva. In lieu of flowers, contributions to continue Don’s legacy of giving may be made to the Pied Piper Fund, c/o First Citizen Bank, PO Box 637, Sylva, NC 28779. .
