Derrell Nations

Derrell Nations, age 82 of Dillsboro, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023. He was born in May 1941, to the late Reverend Hubert Nations and Gertie Brooks Nations.

Derrell and his beloved wife, Nell Clayton, have been married for 55 and a half years. He was an avid foxhunter for many years and in his early years he enjoyed horseback riding. He worked in textile manufacturing for most of his life.

Derrell is survived by his loving wife, Nell; son, Ray Nations; friend, Lily Murcia (who brought him great happiness); sisters, Darlene (Ronnie) Sutton, Carol ( John) Cook; brothers , Bill (Sheila), Zeb (Debbie), Lanny (Wilma), Keith (Angie); sister-in-law, Diane; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant sister, Rosa Lee; and two brothers, Curtis and Luther.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:30PM – 6:30PM on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva, with a Funeral Service to follow at 6:30 pm. Rev. Johnny Ray Davis officiating. Graveside Services will be private.
