David George Stiens

David George Stiens, 74 of Sylva, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022. David was born in Ocala, FL, on March 6, 1948, to the late Donald Louis and Georgette McCormick Stiens.

David was a graduate of Coral Gables High School and Florida State University. He remained a lifelong Seminole fan. He worked as an insurance agent from 1971 until 2014, when he retired from Stanberry Insurance Agency. He co-led the Men’s Community Bible Study and was part of the Rotary Club.

David loved the Lord and was passionate about sharing God’s love. He was a member of Webster Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. During his spare time, David enjoyed traveling, golfing, spending time with his family and coconut donuts. He will be missed by many.

David is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janice Stiens; daughter, Laura Stiens; sons, Kevin Stiens (Ashley) of SC, Ryan Stiens (Julie) of TX; grandchildren, Riley, Aidan, and Molly. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by one brother, Rev. Donald R. Stiens.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Webster Baptist Church. Rev. Scott Carter will be officiating.
