Darlene Johnson, age 66, of Glenville died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Elizabeth House of East Flat Rock, NC. Darlene was born June 16, 1946 in Jackson County , NC. She is the daughter of the late John Lewis and the late Margaret (Golden) Aiken. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Henry Johnson; a daughter, Deanna Baker; a sister, Dorothy Russell; and two brothers, J.D. and Lewis Aikens.
She was employed by High Hampton Inn as a house keeper. She enjoyed reading Western, working word search puzzles, and enjoyed watching science fiction. She was a member of Big Ridge Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Kelley of Molino, Fla; two brothers, James Cecil Aiken of Cashiers and Johnny Odell Aiken of Sapphire; two sisters, Doris Mae Coggins of Balsam, and Delma Jean Autry, of Sylva; and seven grandchildren, T.J., Austin, Cheyenne, and Kelsey Baker; Robert Colton and Ceaira Henson; and Noah White.
The funeral will be held at Hamburg Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 26 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Johnny Norris and Rev. Nathan Johnson officiating. Visitation will be at Appalachian Funeral Services on Monday, March 25 from 6 until 8 p.m. Burial will be in Big Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
