Dale Henry Hooper

Dale passed away at the age of 56 from an overdose. He is survived by his children, Daylon Hooper and Samantha Extine, and Lisa Neal, the mother of his children, 7 grandchildren, Chandler, Dominic, Elijah, Kaylee, Jace, Kayson & Asher.

He is survived by his oldest brother, Richard Hooper (Connie), niece, Krista Hooper Beck (Nathan); nephew, Brandon Hooper (Kimberly) ; nephew, Dustin Hooper (Brittany); nephew, Brian Hooper (Taya); cousin, Kathy Bradley Peek and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Lois Brown Hooper, his sister, Delois Hooper Anderson and his brother, Michael “Dooner” Hooper. 

Dale struggled with drug addiction for most of his life. After rehabilitation, he worked at First at Blue Ridge as a cook, peer support counselor and house manager. He was a wonderful father and husband. He was a kind soul that worked hard to overcome his addiction and enjoyed helping others in recovery and pushed them to their full potential. He brightened peoples’ lives with his quick wit and caring personality. Please remember Dale as the caring and kind soul he was, and how he touched your lives. 

We will have a service/celebration of life on Dale’s birthday, January 15, 2025, at Appalachian Funeral Home in Sylva, NC at 2:00.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local homeless shelter. Addicted people are our children, our parents, our loved ones. We cannot enable and can only show them love when they struggle and not be judgmental. Be kind to everyone you run into, you don’t know what they are struggling with. Forever in our hearts. Rest in Peace, Dale.
