Claude Ray Revis

Claude Ray Revis, 86, of Sylva passed away,Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Morning Star Assisted Living. Claude was born on September 16, 1934 in Jackson County to the late Jewel and Gertrude Revis. Claude loved animals, and he enjoyed elk and bird watching. During his spare time, he enjoyed going hiking, fishing, gardening and camping. His favorite thing to do was riding the back roads, and he knew every back road around the Jackson County area. Claude and his wife of 60 years, Joyce Beck Revis, attended East Sylva Baptist Church.  Claude retired in 1991 after 39 years with Contel/GTE/Verizon.  He loved his telephone "family" and maintained close contact with many of them through the years.   

Claude is survived by his daughter, Jennie Kendrick (Richard) of Conway, SC; his son, Jerry Revis (Margaret) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Kyle and Payton Revis; sisters, Nancy Sherrill and Sara Parker; brothers, George W. Revis and James Revis (Betty Jean). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Claude is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Beck Revis; five sisters (Mary Branson, Stella Dowis, Carolyn Middleton, Cindy Rigdon, Peggy Rigdon) and one brother (Bobby Joe).
