It is with heavy hearts, but thankful souls that we announce the passing of Christy Clayton, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and best friend. Her life was a testament to love, adventure, and immense compassion. Christy departed this world peacefully on Monday January 13th, leaving behind a treasure trove of memories that will forever warm the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
Christy was a beacon of light with her radiant smile and bright eyes and a laugh that could lift the spirits of anyone around her. Her heart was boundless in its capacity to love, never ceasing to care deeply for her family, friends and community.
Christy's love for the outdoors was unparalleled. She found immense joy in fishing with her husband Quincy down at the docks, or on the creek bank where their bond grew stronger with each catch they made. One of her favorite places was Cades Cove, where she delighted in watching wildlife and capturing the beauty of nature through her camera lens. Christy had an innate talent for photography, particularly in capturing the fierce beauty of the forest fires she found so fascinating, it was a passion that showcased her unique perspective on life and her eye for nature.
Her warmth and love extended to her cherished Treeing Walker Coonhounds, which she raised with care and dedication. Christy also loved the thrill of rabbit hunting, a pastime that brought her closer to nature and fulfilled her adventurous spirit.Christy's heart was as boundless as the landscapes she loved to photograph and explore.
She leaves behind a family that adored her and a community that will deeply miss her presence. Christy's legacy is one of love, kindness, and an unyielding spirit.
Christy is proceeded in life by her father Donald Gates and her mother Rosetta Gates she is survived by her devoted Husband Quincy Clayton, and her loving daughter Cheyenne Clayton, who will both forever cherish the memories of her warm embrace, her infectious laughter, and the joy she brought into their lives. She will be dearly missed but remembered with love and gratitude for the incredible person that she was.
May Christy's soul rest in peace, and may her spirit continue to inspire us to embrace the beauty of the world around us and cherish every single moment we share with our loved ones.
A celebration of life will be held for Christy and Rosetta Gates on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva starting at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends from 12:30- 2:00 prior to the service.
