Charlie Randolph Ray, 94, of Whittier, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, March 2, 2016. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Isabell Jordan Ray. A Christian man, Charlie was former Pastor at Piney Mountain Baptist Church and was a member of Patterson Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors and was a WWII Veteran. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his 4 sisters and a brother. He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years Jessie Elders Ray 2 Daughters- Arlene Maney (George) of Whittier Janice Melton (Glenn) of Whittier 3 Grandchildren- Jody Maney of Asheville, Jeri Hensley (Bobby) of Sylva, Amy Elrod (Richard) of Sylva 3 Great Grandchildren- Isaac Hensley, Riley Hensley and Addison Elrod Nephew- Jerry Seay Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday Match 5 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Revs.Eddie Stillwell and Scott Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon till 2:00 PM prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Thomas Elders Cemetery in Whittier. .
