Charles Keith “CK” Railsback, died Sunday, January 26. He leaves behind Patricia, his wife of 64 years, two sons, Stanley of Franklin and Brian of Cullowhee, two daughters-in-law, Cynthia and Sandra, and three grandchildren, Travis, Justin and Cadence, and two step-grandchildren, Randi and Ryan Herren.
Charles was born February 3, 1923, in Vinton, Iowa, to Charles and Peggy Railsback. He rose to the rank of staff sergeant in the US Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific, his tour of duty including Guadalcanal, New Georgia, Midway, and after the war, Tsingtao, China. Honorably discharged in 1946, he served in the Marine Reserve until 1957. He married Patricia Anne Boone on May 21, 1949. He worked for the Pacific Telephone Company from 1949 to 1985, starting as a lineman in Los Angeles and retiring as a regional manager in Ventura, California. He was recognized as a traveling speaker for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), as a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross, and for his extensive community service as a member of the Kiwanis Club.
A private wake at home will be on what would have been the date of his 91st birthday.
