Charles John Parris

Charles “Chuck” John Parris, age 70, a resident of Sylva for the past 14 years and originally from Detroit, MI, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. Chuck is the son of the late Bennett J. Parris and Mae DeNoyer Parris. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by if first wife, Lois Parris and two brothers; Norman Parris and James Parris. His spent his life doing what he loved, long haul trucking. Chuck is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gwen Moses Parris. He is also survived by his two children; Joyce Denoyer, and husband David, of Albuquerque, NM and Brian Parris, and wife Erica, of Lansing, MI. Also surviving are two brothers; Paul Parris, and wife Louise, of Marietta, GA and Thomas Parris, and wife Sandra, of FL as well as four sisters; Barbara Zuchowicz of Dearborn, MI, Gladys Parris of FL, Joyce Keller and husband Martin, of Toledo, OH and Elaine Surma and husband Michael of FL. His three grandchildren; Luke and Zane Donoyer and Atticka Parris also survive. A memorial mass is planned for Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryson City. Father Shawn O’Neal will be officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.
