Charles Alvis Guthrie

Charles (Charlie) Alvis Guthrie, age 78 of Cashiers, NC, passed from this earthly home to his heavenly home on Friday, November 20, 2020.   He was born on June 12, 1942, in Graham, NC, to the late Scott and Sarah (Parker) Guthrie.

Charlie will always be remembered for his quick wit and numerous stories (that he sometimes repeated over and over).  He loved his 1929 Model-A and had a passion for building show cars and doing competitions with them.  He would always tell you, he was Grand Champion 5 years in a row.  He also loved attending auctions and living in the mountains.  Charlie retired from 3M in Greenville, SC in 2001, and moved to Cashiers in 2007.  He attended Cashiers Church of God.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Louise Davis; son, Otis (Tammy) Guthrie, of Fountain Inn, SC; daughter, Janet (Carlton) Hawkins, of Greenville, SC; step-daughters, Jackie Hernandez, of Cashiers, Tammy (Rob) Williams, of Carolina Beach, NC, Tina (Todd) McConnell, of Franklin, NC; Charlie delighted in his 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

In keeping with Charlie’s wishes, there will be a private Celebration of Life at a later date.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva, NC.
