Charles M. Daves, 88, of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday morning March 27, 2021. A native and a lifelong resident of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Nathan and Callie Wood Daves.
Charles retired after 30 years from Western Carolina University in the Central Store and after retiring he worked another 18 years at Jackson Village. He loved the Atlanta Braves and fast pitch softball, especially the Sedro Wolley Cubs. He loved the outdoors and rabbit hunting. Charles also would look forward to attending church at Long Branch Baptist Church and he never met a stranger !
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Troy, Jim, Louise, Mildred and Lillian
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Dorothy Henson Daves
Daughter- Carla (Ray Jr.) Blanton of Springfield, TN
Son- Bill Daves of Sylva
2 Grandchildren- Cody Blanton and Samantha (Mark)Junaluska
2 Great Grandchildren- Charli and Zayden Junaluska
Sister- Frankie Jean (Kenny) Cope
and numerous nieces and nephews also survive
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday April 2, 2021 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Earl Holden and Harold Crisp officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till 1:00 pm prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Internment will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Cemetery in Waynesville
