Cecile Shuler Woodard, 97, of the Pumpkintown Community, went home to be with her Lord on Monday morning February 8, 2016. A native of Macon County, she was born on December 19, 1918 to the late Jesse Shuler and Addie Guffey Shuler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Woodard on January 23, 2003, her infant son; Ronald Woodard, eight brothers, one sister and two daughters-in-law, Regina Woodard and Corena Woodard.
Cecile was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where she had served as clerk and Sunday school teacher and loved to sing in the choir. She dearly loved her family and her Church family and always had a smile for everyone she met.
She is survived by
2 sons- Gene Woodard of Wendell, NC
Darrell Woodard and his wife Leigh of Sylva
1 Daughter- Frances Cloer and her husband Thomas of Bryson City
1 Brother- Perry Shuler and his wife Lorraine of Franklin, NC
4 Granddaughters- Debra Hocutt and her husband Tony of Knightdale, NC, Cindy Alford and husband Billy of Wendell, NC, Monika Woodard of Plantation, Fla, and Cheryl Rogers and her husband Joel of Cleveland, TN.
5 Grandsons- Chuck Woodard and his wife Amy of Apex, NC, Todd Woodard and his wife Wendy of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Chad Woodard of Apex, NC, Christian Woodard of Wendell, NC and Jared Zullo of Florida.
3 Great Grandsons- Jackson and Ethan Woodard, and Haden Hocutt
2 Great Granddaughters- Haven Woodard and Eden Rogers
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday February 11 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Eddie Stillwell, Ernie Jamison and Steve Webb officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening February 10 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services. Burial wiiill be in the Zion Hill Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
