Carolyn Diane Steed

Carolyn Diane Steed, age 72, of Whittier went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Friday, July 27, 2018. She was the wife of Tom Steed and the daughter of the late Everett and Olive Skarin.

Carolyn was a wife, mother, daughter and dear friend. As a nurse and diabetic educator, she was passionate about helping people with diabetes. She was a gifted writer and an avid reader. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren; Jackson, Kynzi, Karston, Jonathan, Jedidiah, Angela, Nyah, Haakon and Kendy.

She made people feel special because they were genuinely special to her. Whenever you entered a room she was in, she was always full of love and ready to greet you with a warm hug and a kiss. She was a beautiful person and she surrounded herself with beauty she saw in the world – all of God’s creation. She would see the majesty of God’s glory in the people she loved as well as in the changing seasons, fields of flowers and an inspiring sunset.

In all these ways, and so much more, Carolyn shared and reflected the love of Christ to everyone around her.  

In addition to her husband of fifty years, she is also survived by two sons; Chris (Holly) Steed and Jeremy Steed and one daughter Jeanne-Ann (Erik) Williams. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and one brother; Roger (Ellie) Skarin.  

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva from 1-2 pm. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 pm. Burial will follow in the Wilmot Cemetery.
