Carl Ray Scott

Carl Ray Scott, age 62, of Sylva, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born in Haywood County on September 14, 1961. He was the son of the late James Edward Scott and Wanda Rose Donaldson Mohler.

Carl was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed spending his time deer hunting with his brothers and friends in Georgia. He also loved fishing, camping, gardening, and spending time with his family.

Carl was a retired mechanic with the NCDOT, having worked there for 20+ years. For 17 years, he travelled and sang bass for the Carolina Crossmen Quartet. He was a member of Ochre Hill Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Donna Ammons Scott; son, Christian Ray Scott; mother, Edna Scott; brothers; Chris Woodard (Debbie Chastain) of Sylva, and George (Amy Verrault) of North Myrtle Beach, SC. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Ochre Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, October 14th. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. with the service at 2:00 p.m. Matt Rhea and Eddie Stillwell will officiate.
