Carl Nelson Bumgarner

Carl Nelson Bumgarner, age 72, of Sylva passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at Harris Regional Hospital. He is the son of the late James and Marie Baumgarner. He was a member of Promise Land Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Loved spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids. He was a good man that was loved dearly by his family. He is survived by his wife Margaret Bumgarner; two sons Travis Bumgarner (Angie) of Asheville, NC and Corey Bumgarner of Sylva, NC; eight grandchildren; two sisters Brenda Extine of Cullowhee, NC and Sandra Wood of Sylva, NC; two brothers Marvin Bumgarner of Jacksonville, NC and James Bumgarner of Cullowhee, NC; also numerous nieces and nephew and a special friend Paul Melton. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Service with the Rev. Jason Broom and Rev. Larry Bryson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Promise Land Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Appalachian Funeral Service at 165 Skyland Dr. Sylva, NC 28779 to help with the funeral bill. Appalachian Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
