Rev. Carl Adams 87 of Locust Creek, Sylva passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday May 22, 2024. He was born in Tuckasegee, June 11,1936, to the late Will and Ercie Brown Adams.
Carl was a veteran of the US Navy and the Merchant Marines. He retired from Dayco and enjoyed a long healthy retirement. Carl was an ordained Baptist minister and pastored several churches in Jackson Co over the past forty years. The way he lived his life with love, kindness and humbleness was his greatest testimony. He devoted his life to preaching the gospel and leading people to the Lord. He only preached what the Lord gave him, no more and no less. He preached out of love and never hatefulness.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Joyce Wood Adams, brother-in-law, Claude Mills and nephew Douglas Farris.
Surviving are one sister, Gladys Mills and one sister-in-law, Sally Brown. Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews also survive. Uncle Carl was a great influence on them and loved each of them unconditionally. He will hold a special place in their hearts. To have known Carl was to love him.
After Joyce died, Carl was able to be cared for at home. This was so important to him and his family. This would not have been possible without his wonderful, God sent caregivers, Glenda Matthews, Susan Cook, Sheila Keever and Tuck Brown. The family will forever be thankful and blessed for the love and care they provided. We also thank Dr Roy Gallinger, Brandi Doyle and the staff of Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday May 25, 2024, in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Mark Styles, Rev. Avery Brown, and Jacob Parris officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Gideons International, Four Seasons Hospice, or a church of your choice.
