C. Frank Thompson, 95, of Sylva, passed away Saturday Evening January 18, 2014. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Emilus and Belle Barker Thompson. He loved to fish and work in his garden after he retired with over 37 years with the Mead Corporation. Frank was a devout Church worker and a lifelong Member at Scott's Creek Baptist Church. He was a great father and a wonderful man. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years Helen Gass Thompson, his son John David Thompson of Mooresville, granddaughters- Melanie Brooke Thompson of Sylva and Sheila Ann Thompson of San Antonio, Texas, great granddaughter- Melanie Lorraine Stoeppelwerth as well as several brother and sisters. He is survived by 3 Sons- James Robert Thompson and his wife Linda of Valdese, NC Joe Thompson and his wife Connie of Statesville, NC Hugh Thompson and his wife Kathie of Tuckasegee Daughter-in-law- Cynthia Thompson of Sylva 13 Grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday January 22 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Wayne Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00pm prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens. . .
