Burrus Elmore Jones

Burrus Elmore Jones, 91, of Sylva, went home to be with The Lord Monday March 27, 2023
Born in Yazoo City, Mississippi on February 29, 1932, he was the son of the late Burrus Elzy and Virgnina Jones. 
A resident of Jackson County for over 30 years; Burrus was a U.S.Army Veteran and Chaplain for American Legion Post 104 in Sylva.  He was also a Deacon and Member of East Sylva Baptist Church. 
He had worked for over 41 years as a salesman for Southwestern Petroleum Corp.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by 3 of his sisters
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Nancy

                    Jenny (Sam) Kyzer of Mooresville, NC
                    Burrus (Deborah) Jones of Falls Church, VA
9 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren
2 Sisters; Linda (Tom) Persons, 
                 Lucie Riggsbee

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Friday March 31, 2023 at East Sylva Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Dean and Reed Benson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the Service at the Church. Burial will follow at Old Field Cemetery.
