Birdie Rowland Hensley

Birdie Rowland Hensley, 92, of Whittier, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday April 15, 2023

 A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Bonnie Rowland. Birdie was a member of Wilmot Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She loved gardening and her flowers but her favorite thing to do was canning. She was a very generous woman with a caring heart, she loved helping others. One of her most precious memories was just spending time with her grandchildren and family.

 In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Theodore, her daughter; Emma Jo Locust, Grandson David Carter, great grandson Zach Carter, great great grandson; Dustin Ward, her siblings Eugene Rowland, Lorene Rowland and Frankie Ball

She is survived by her children; JD Hensley of Whittier, Ruby (Billy) Herron of Whittier, JR Hensley of Swain County, Judy (Bruce) Brooks of Whittier; Grandchildren; Tim Hensley, Lindsay Hensley, Kenny Carter, Kelly Jones, Wayne Driver, Darrell Driver and Adam Brooks,  11 Great Grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday April 19, 2023 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Max Cochran officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 prior to the Service at the Funeral Home, Burial will be in Hensley Cemetery.
