Billy Jacob Carpenter, age 75, of Sylva passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Bruce Carpenter and the late Aileen Cagle Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Timothy Bruce Carpenter, one brother, Harry Carpenter, one sister, Annie Carpenter and one great grandson, Caleb McFalls.
Billy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Euna Raye Farmer Carpenter. He is also survived by two daughters; Sherry McFalls (Joe) of Cullowhee and Andrea Hooper (Brandon) of Sylva as well as four sisters; Mildred Cole (Caro), Mary Lou Ashe, Faye Powell (Harry) all of Sylva, June Chastain of Cullowhee, two brothers; Ray (Doris) Carpenter and James Carpenter both of Sylva. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Chris (Samantha) McFalls of Sylva, Brian (Crystal) McFalls of Bryson City, Kimberly Carpenter and Blake Carpenter both of Canton. Five great grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service will be Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. David Powell officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Stillwell Cemetery. Pall Bears will be Chris McFalls, Brian McFalls, Bruce Carpenter, Andrew Queen, Stephen Boone, Dustin Cabe and Brandon Cabe. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Colten McFalls, Evan McFalls, Harold Cole and Nathan Beck.
