Bill Lindsay Jr.

William John "Bill" Lindsay Jr., age 86, of Whittier, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at his home. He was the husband of Shirley Semple Lindsay and the son of the late William and Thelma Till Lindsay Sr.

Bill attended the Whittier Church of God and was retired as a self-employed electrician. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepmother; Lucy Lindsay, one half-brother; Mike Lindsay, one son-in-law; Terry Payne, and one granddaughter; Heather Payne.

Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years; Shirley S. Lindsay, two daughters; Lauren Payne and Valerie (Robert) Chastain, and one grandson; Benjamin L. Payne. He is also survived by one brother; Alan (Joy) Lindsay, one sister; Betty Bowen, as well as by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, NC. Rev. Shane Silvers and Rev. David Burch will officiate and burial will follow in the Barkers Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 12:00 until 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given in Bill's memory to Whittier Church of God, PO Box 129 Whittier, NC 28789 or to the charity of your choice.
