Betty Paxton Reid

Betty Paxton Reid, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

Betty was born on October 12, 1931 to the late William and Myrtle Crisp Paxton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings. She was a committed member of Woodland Church of Christ. Betty loved mailing cards to her friends and family all over Jackson County. She enjoyed cooking, and preparing food for her family and friends, spending time with her family, shopping, working crossword puzzles, and talking on the phone.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Del Reid; daughter, Lisa Gunton (David); grandson, Daniel Gunton; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 8, 2025 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Brandon Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the hurricane relief fund at Woodland Church of Christ 146 Weldon Hall Rd., Sylva, NC 28779.
