Betty Bryson Matthews

Betty Bryson Matthews, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022.  She was a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NM and recently moved back to Jackson County.

Betty was born Aug. 8, 1942 in Glenville, NC to the late Theodore and Mary Talley Bryson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Matthews and brother, Johnny Bryson.

Betty had a very big heart and was one of the most caring people you could ever meet. She will be missed by many! She was a member of Trout Creek Baptist Church. She worked as a store manager for Allsup’s and a department manager for Walmart.

Surviving are her daughter, Phyllis (Harold) Nicholson of Tuckasegee, NC; sons, Anthony (Linda) Matthews and Tim (Carol) Matthews of Las Vegas, NM; sisters, Louise (Melvin) Jennings, Joan (Jerry) Johnston, Edna (Johnny) Bryson and Sandy Bryson along with grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.
