Betty Anne Garland, age 83, passed away Thursday, May 12th, 2016. She was a devoted wife and loving sister, who also loved gardening, flowers, square dancing, and canning. Betty was married to Ralph Garland for 62 years.
Betty is preceded in death by her father Montgomery Ward, mother, Della Jones Ward-Nations and step-father, Thomas Weaver Nations, and one son, Michael E. Garland. She is also preceded by three brothers Doyle, Curley, and Ben Ward, as well as one sister, Peggy Robinson.
In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by 4 sisters, Cheeara (Paul) Nations of Greenville, SC; Della Darlene (Ray) Bradley of Cherokee, NC; Mackie M. Wood of Whittier, NC; and Vickie Williams of Cherokee NC.
Several nieces, nephews, cousins and one special great-nephew Gage also survive.
Pallbearers will be Curley Nations, Titan Wood, Ray Bradley Jr., Johnny, Bennie, Monty, and Claude Ward.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday May 15th, 2016 at 3pm in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. The Reverends Eddie Stillwell and Steve Webb will be officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
