Betty Jean Ashe

Betty Jean Brown Ashe, 89 of Little Savannah Rd. in Sylva, NC was promoted to heaven on February 23, 2025. She was born on April 16, 1935 in Jackson County, NC to the late Thad and Betty Brown. She was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church until her health declined, at which time she became a resident of Skyland Care Center. 

 She is preceded in death by her late husband Elmer Ashe, two sons Darryle Ashe and Kent Ashe, two sisters Beulah Myers and Marietta Jones, and six brothers Bernard Brown, Harry Brown, Ray Brown, Ned Brown, Arthur Brown, and Carl Brown.

 Surviving is one daughter Teresa Buchanan (Mark), three sons Terry Ashe (Kathy), Keith Ashe (Christy), and Brian Ashe. Also surviving are five grandchildren Shannon Ashe, Dustin Ashe (Stephanie), Justin Ashe (Amanda), Krystal Ashe, Darryle Buchanan (Bethany) and seven great grandchildren Hannah Ashe, Kaydance Buchanan, Grayson Buchanan, Owen Ashe, Willa Buchanan, Ethan Ashe, baby girl Ashe and many nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life will be held at New Hope Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Officiating are Keith Ashe, Mike Moore, Ernie Jamison, and Eddie Stillwell. The pallbearers will be Shannon Ashe, Justin Ashe, Darryle Buchanan, Dan Brown, Seth Brown, and Brandon Hooper. The committal service will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Sylva, NC. 

 The family would like to thank Skyland Care Center for the impeccable attention given to our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Skyland Care Center 193 Asheville Hwy, Sylva, NC 28779 for a new bus to transport residents to events and outings.
