Bessie Edith Bennett

Bessie Edith Bennett, 95, of Cullowhee, NC, passed away August 12, 2024, at Mountain View Manor Nursing Home in Bryson City, North Carolina.

Edith was born in Cullowhee, NC to William and Sarah Jane Bennett on April 16, 1929. She had numerous flower gardens that she was so proud of and blessed to work in them until she was at least 90. She loved walking around and showing them to everyone. 

Edith was preceded in death by all her siblings. Brothers – Roy, Ralph, Leamon, John and William “June” Bennett and Sisters – Ann Carter, Stella Bennett and Carolyn Woolvin, an infant daughter Sarah Jean, son John Wayne Bennett and grandson Harold Dale Arrowood.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Margie Arrowood, Charles Bennett (Debbie), Kenneth Bennett (Kathy), Robert Bennett and Nancy Connor; grandchildren – Teresa Bennett, Julie Bennett (Rosalio), Kendell Bennett, Zane Bennett (Caitlan), Ryan Bennett (Carson), Johnathon Connor (Jesse) and Michael Connor (Lizzie); great-grandchildren – Brittany, Angelica, Leonardo, Mackenzie, Tiffany, Elizabeth, Izabella, Emma, JJ, and Kaiden; and great-great grandchildren – Reagan, Carson and Josephina.

A visitation will be held at Appalachian Funeral Home on Friday evening, August 16, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Appalachian Funeral Home, Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 1:00 pm with Reverend Michael Queen and Steve Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Hooper Cemetery in Cullowhee, NC. 

Pallbearers will be Zane Bennett, Ryan Bennett, John “Jake” Bennett, Mickey Bennett, Bobby Henkel and Andres Marquez.
