Bernard Joseph Rock

Bernard "Rock" J. Rock age 67 of Whittier, NC formally of Savannah, GA passed away at his home on top of his mountain Sunday, October 5, 2014. He was the son of the late John and Leona Verbitsky Rock. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Diane Rock. They moved to the mountains at Barkers Creek in 1996. He retired from the US Marine Corps where he was a jet mechanic during the Vietnam Conflict. After the Marine Corps he continued his passion of being a mechanic by opening up his own shop and then going to work for Savannah Motor and Brakes. Rock was a founding member of SADA. In addition to his wife, Diane, he is survived by one son Shane Rock; one daughter Angel Cox; along with three grandchildren Laina, Ben and Zachary; two sisters Anita Artascos and Viola Zito; two aunts Dr. Sadie Strick of Pittsburgh, PA and Elenore Siba of Masontown, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Raymond, Mikey and Punchy Rock. A memorial service will be held in Savannah, GA at a later date. . .
