Bernard Ledophas Cody

Bernard L. Cody, age 85, of Sylva, NC, passed away on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024. He was born on Tuesday, April 25th, 1939 in Virginia. He previously resided in Xenia OH and Morristown TN.

Bernard was a beloved husband to Janice Wolford Cody, a caring father to Tammy Boes, Tommy Cody, Randy Cody, and Melissa Parris, a cherished brother to Judy Eaton and Jimmie Spitler, a doting grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, and a dear friend to Jeff Faust.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Hazel Lay Cody and siblings Glenn Cody and Sue Crowley.

He will be remembered as a successful business owner, a talented baseball player in his younger years, an avid golfer and bowler, and someone who never knew a stranger. Bernard was loved by many for his kind heart and friendly personality.

A visitation will be held from 11:00am to 12:00pm, on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva NC. , A Memorial Service at 12:00pm, officiated by Rev. Avery Brown.

Bernard will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
