Benjamin H. Cathey

Benjamin Hamilton Cathey, age 74, died Friday, April 24, 2015 at his home in the Caney Fork Community. He was the son of the late Humphrey Posey Cathey and Evelyn Campbell Cathey of Sylva. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Mark C. Jones, and by special companions Luke and Ruby, and a long succession of other good hunting dogs that have gone on ahead. He is survived by his sister Anne Cathey Jones; brother-in-law Claude P. Jones of Sylva, and their son David E. Jones of Rockville, Maryland, who will miss him sorely, and by his many loyal and wonderful longtime friends and good Caney Fork neighbors who have rallied around him during his recent times of declining health. Ben found, and lived a whole life of joy in the outdoors, hunting and fishing and roaming the mountains. On Saturday, May 16, please join us as we celebrate his life with a memorial service at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva.
