Arthur Grant Gunter

Arthur Grant Gunter, age 90, of Sylva died Sunday, October 25, 2015. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, Mr. Gunter was born June 7, 1925. He is the son of the late Frank and the late Dellie (Wikle) Gunter. He was the husband of the late Betty Smathers who died in 2005. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by two sisters, Ruby Conner and Levon Styles and three brothers, Thomas, Doyle and Joe Gunter. He was employed by Lee Industries as a furniture finisher. He was a member of Balsam Baptist Church, he enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his daughter, Georgia Gunter and her fiancé Dewayne Sharp of Balsam; two grandsons, Chuck and John Irwin; three great grandchildren; a brother, Frankie Gunter and wife Shelby and a sister, Dessie Plott and husband Fred, all of Blairsville, GA. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 28 at Balsam Baptist Church, Balsam, NC with Rev. Ricky Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Balsam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 27 from 6 till 8 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services And Crematorium, 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC. .
