Annie Bell Shook, age 95, of Tuckasegee went to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, Annie was born October 8, 1921, the daughter of the late Filbert and the late Bethany (Alexander) Brown. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Eldon Shook; sisters: Til Queen, O'Phelia Brown, Lilly Luker, Vera Luker; brothers: Gordon Brown; half sisters, Minnie and Bessie; half brothers: Wrought; Bo, Weaver, Sherman, Grady, and Harry.
Annie spent her life at home. She loved to garden and can and grow flowers. She loved taking care of all her family. She was a member of the Tuckasegee Church of God. She loved her family and enjoyed taking care of children.
She is survived by five daughters: Erinda (Kenneth) Shuler, Norma (Larry) Hightower, Eva Dean (Ronnie) Frady, Louise Shook, Norcella Massingale; a brother Fred Brown, a sister Pearl Brown, a half sister Helen, half brothers, Spurgeon and Waver, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
Annie's funeral service will be held on Friday, December 2 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, with the Reverends Rickey Lawson and Jason Bryson officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Shook Cemetery in Tuckasegee.
