Andrew Jackson "Jackie" Franks, Sr., 70, of Westminster, MD passed away on Saturday, July 29th, 2017 in Sylva, NC. He was the son of the late D J and the Evelyn (Bryson) Franks. He was married to the former Penny Jonese. He was a retired underground utility contractor. He graduated from Patterson High School in Baltimore MD. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He dearly loved his country and was passionate about his motorcycle and antique gun and knife collecting. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 1 brother; Max Franks. He is survived by his wife of 52 years; Penny Franks, 3 daughters; Tammy (Mark) Schreck, Betty (Terry) Rogers, Devera (Andy) Lahmon, 2 sons; Andrew (Debbie) Franks Jr. and Jack (Sheryl) Franks. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, July 31st at Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Reed Benson officiating. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service at Appalachian Funeral Services. A Celebration of Life for Jackie will be held on Saturday, August 12th at 2:00 at 515 Old Manchester Rd. in Westminster, MD. Everyone who would like to attend is encouraged to do so. In lieu of flowers, honorariums may be made directly to the family. Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva, NC is serving the family.
