Amy Leona Block, 68, peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 17, 2024, after a courageous five-year battle with late-stage ovarian cancer. She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved parents, Raymond and Leona Mall, her brother-in-law, James Bandy, and her cherished in-laws, John and Mary Block.
Described as beautiful, spiritual, kind, generous, funny, and loving, Amy had a vibrant personality that was matched only by her infectious laughter. She was the ultimate gift giver, known for her intuitive knack for selecting the perfect presents, making her the go-to person for friends and family seeking advice.
In her leisure time, Amy enjoyed bike rides, mindful walks, time spent by the water, and nurturing her garden. Her exceptional generosity extended to her career as a respiratory therapist, where she had a remarkable ability to sense the needs of others. A true advocate for animals, she cherished her frog pond and was known for rescuing turtles from busy roadways, reflecting her deep compassion.Amy touched countless lives, serving as a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly fifty years, Matt Block; her devoted daughters, Susan (Correy) Gristchuk and Melissa Block (Clifton Ingram, Jr.); and her adored grandchildren, Luke, Claire, Mila, and Leona. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Susan Kaye, and her in-laws, Jane (Mike) Carroll, Tony (Maureen) Block, and beloved nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Amy’s life will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at St Matthias Catholic Church, 12311 19 Mile Road Sterling Heights, MI 48313. Fr Francisco Restrepo, officiating. The Family will receive friends from 9:30AM-10:00AM prior to Mass. A celebration of life luncheon will follow Mass at The American Polish Century Club in Sterling Heights.
Amy's love for her family and friends was boundless, and her presence will be profoundly missed by everyone who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Ovarian Cancer Research. The link here: https://tribute.ocrahope.org/amyblock
