Alice Cabe, age 85, went to her heavenly home on November 10, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. Born May 4, 1928 to the late Jack and Vera Meares Hoyle, she spent her early life in Georgia, but Ochre Hill was her home. She Graduated from Sylva High School in 1945 and married Carlin Cabe in 1946. Alice and Carlin moved to East Fork and became faithful members of the East Fork Baptist Church. Alice spent her life showing her Christian love and hospitality to her family and friends as well as her coworkers at Rexall Drug Store and Moody Funeral Home. She loved attending gospel singings, traveling, camping and eating at Burger King with friends. She was known as a wonderful cook, who enjoyed preparing home cooked meals for family and friends. Alice baked numerous wedding cakes and her many recipes are treasured by all who knew her. She was a friend to all, loved by many and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Reva Mills, brothers Jack Vernon Hoyle, Alton Hoyle and sons-in-law Jimmy Adams and Jimmy Gibson.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Carlin Cabe, daughters Karen Gibson, Susan Adams, Carleen and Charles Parham and a son Steve and Dianne Cabe. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Services Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 6-8pm. A funeral will be held at the East Fork Baptist Church Wednesday November 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM with the body placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
