Alice Buchanan

Alice Buchanan, age 68 of Whittier NC, passed away on Wednesday March 23, 2022. She was born on January 25, 1954, in Macon County, to the late Charlie and Willie Wanda Franks.

Alice was the owner of Lace & Fabric in Whittier. She enjoyed cooking, canning, and crafts. Alice loved working in her flowers and her garden. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Alice was a member of Wilmot Baptist Church.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Donna Byrd (Ben), Vickie Lynn Walk (Dennis), Mark Anthony Buchanan, Carl Sam Buchanan Jr. (Stacey), Christopher Shane Buchanan (Emily); siblings, Katie Cabe (David), Monroe Franks (Robin), Vick Franks ( Brenda), Johnny Franks (Penny); 14 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Carl Buchanan; sister, Ella Carol Franks; and brother, Walter Franks.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00PM on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Wilmot Baptist Church, 2029 Thomas Valley Rd Whittier, NC, with a Funeral Service at 2:00PM. Rev. Johnny Ray Davis, officiating.  Interment will follow at Bumgarner Cemetery.
