Adam Buchanan

March 26, 1920 — April 6, 2022

Adam Buchanan, age 102 of Sylva, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. He was the son of Tom and Bessie McMahan Buchanan.

 

Adam retired from Jackson County Schools. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, Ardennes (Battle of the Buldge) with the 438th Signal Battalion. He received the Eamet Campaign Medal, four bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Adam loved working in his garden and spending time with family.

 

In addition to his parents, Adam is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Bradley Buchanan; infant son, Dennis; son, John Buchanan (Linda); one brother, James; five sisters, Emma McMahan, Ruby Green, Jessie Hall, Marie Jones, and Zilia McMahan

 

Adam is survived by one son, Doyle Buchanan(Vickie) of Sylva; one sister, Hazel Jones of Franklin; two granddaughters, Amanda Justice (Michael) and Ameka Cole (Robert) of Sylva; two great grandsons, Hunter and Adam Haylen Cole; great granddaughter, Darcie Justice; one step grandson Brent West; three great granddaughters, Johnna, Cheyenne, and Kayti; two great great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Carter.

 

Special thanks to the heroes of Skyland Care Center and roommate Vernie.

 

Memorials may be made to Old Savannah Cemetery Fund.

 

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Old Savannah Cemetery.
