Biography
Oberia Owen Lewis, age 84, of Sylva died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Med West Harris in Sylva, NC. Mrs. Lewis was born April 21, 1927 in Jackson County, NC. She is the daughter of the late Andrew Vess and Mae (Shelton) Owen. She was preceded in death by her husband T.C. Lewis and one son Mike Lewis and 6 Brothers and one sister.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son Tim Lewis of Sylva one brother Gerald Owen of Sylva and one sister Alma Robinson of Sylva. four grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00PM Wednesday January 25, 2012 at Appalachian Funeral Services. A Graveside will follow at 2:00P.M. in Fairview Gardens with the Rev. I remember the wonderful laughs Oberia use to give us everytime she came to our office and the cakes her and Alma would bring us in to eat.... God bless you during this time know she was a very loved lady......

Oberia was a good friend of mine when we worked at the telephone office. She was so witty and sweet. We had lots of fun together. She will be missed by many.

I wish someone had called me.... I love this woman very much even tho it's been difficult to come home and keep in touch she has been thought of often! I will truly miss her what a great wonderful person she was. I have never felt so welcome as I always did around Oberia. I will miss you and Heaven is a much brighter place now that you are there! So sorry to Tim and the rest of the family for your loss and I know you all will miss her sooo much! My late husband Jeff also thought sooo much of her. He loved her more than she probably ever knew.
